So, I just spent a bunch of time putting a ceramic coat on our Lexus RX 350 F SPORT, and man, you know how it is with waxing and polishing. suddenly you see every single flaw in the body and paint.

But seriously, when I was doing the hood, the quality of the finish totally reminded me of that orange peel look you used to see on cars back in the '60s.

Like, there were some smaller areas where the finish was actually really nice, not quite a mirror, but super close. Then you get to the big panels, and it's right back to that orange peel texture.

I gotta say, for a luxury brand, I would have expected way better quality control on the paint. What the heck, Lexus? I'm starting to think maybe with how crazy demand is right now,

Anyone else notice this on their newer Lexus or other luxury brands? Am I just being too nitpicky? Let me know what you guys think!

You're not being too picky at all, orange peel is still a thing, even on luxury brands...lexus, BMW, mercedes… they all have it to some degree now, especially on the larger panels, once you lay down a good ceramic coat, it's hard not to notice every little imperfection

Totally get you but straight to solutions, a professional paint correction or wet sanding is usually the way to go, but that's extra work and cost if you will be willing to go down that route

@MindBlowingJax Yeah, paint correction helps, but honestly it stings having to pay more just to fix what should've been right from the factory.

@peachpie_ I noticed the same thing on my wife's RX. Looked fine till I detailed it, then bam. Orange peel all over the hood and doors.
