Towing package

I can't seem to find a lot of info about the Lexus towing package. I'm particularly curious if it's an add-on, like something that can be installed at a later time after the initial purchase? Or is it cheaper if buy it upfront? If anyone here knows about this and can send options, I'd appreciate it!

The towing package on Lexus models is usually an add on you can get when you buy the car, and it's almost always cheaper to get it upfront, you could add it later, but dealers often charge more for the parts and installation after the fact. If towing is important to you, better to lock it in from the start.

I added the package when I bought, but did not get a hitch until later. The basic package is indeed cheaper that way and I got a hitch on line and had my local mechanic install--lots cheaper than through the dealer.

It can be added later, but its usually cheaper and easier to include it when you order the vehicle. It comes with a wiring harness and sometimes some cooling upgrades.

If Lexus really wanted to make towing packages appealing, they'd bundle them upfront not make you pay extra later, so the fact that dealers nickel-and-dime you suggests they're milking every opportunity.
