Extended warranty question

The wife and I just brought home our 2022 Lexus NX 350, and the agent said the full electronics warranty only lasts 12 months, with an optional extended bumper-to-bumper warranty adding five more years for an additional $4k. The dealership self insures these plans, and I have 60 days to cancel for a full refund. I have just been wondering how often the unit have electronic issues within like 5 years and ask them, but didn't really get a clear answer. Heard a lot advices against extended warranties, just wondering what you guys think about this.

Honestly, $4k for an extra five years on a Lexus? That feels steep. Those cars are pretty bulletproof, especially for electronics. Most people I know don't buy it. they never get that kind of value back from an extended warranty on a reliable brand like that, eh?
 
Hmmm if Lexus electronics are built to last, why does the dealer push a $4k warranty so hard? Feels more like profit padding than protection especially when most issues show up under factory coverage anyway.
 
Sweet ride. As for the warranty, you're not alone, but $4k is a such a reach. Lexus generally has a solid rep for reliability, especially in the first 5 years, and major electronic issues arent super common. That said, modern cars are packed with tech, so its not impossible. If you're losing sleep over it, the peace of mind might be worth it, but many folks skip the extended warranty and do just fine.
